Adding money to auto roll

Here’s a summary of the main problem and solutions discussed:

  • Main Problem: The user wants to know if they can designate funds from their core position to be included in the auto roll setup for purchasing more short-term CDs.
  • Solution: Changes to the Auto Roll feature cannot be made for specific securities after the trade has been submitted, including adding positions.
  • Solution: To invest a portion of “Cash Available to Trade” into additional short-term CDs, the user must place the trade either online or by contacting the Fixed Income Team.
  • Solution: Additional purchases can continue to be auto-rolled as long as the securities are eligible.

I have an auto roll setup for short term CDs in my cash management account. Is it possible to designate money that I have in my core position such that it is used to purchase more CDs on the next roll over and becomes part of the auto roll moving forward?

Thanks for reaching out to us on Discord, @gyrfalcon! That is a great question. Changes to the Auto Roll feature cannot be made for specific securities after the trade has been submitted; this also includes adding additional positions. If you would like to have a portion of your “Cash Available to Trade” invested into additional short-term CDs, you will have to place the trade for them either online or by phone with a member of our Fixed Income Team. The good news is that your additional purchases may continue to be auto-rolled as long as the security is eligible. Feel free to let us know if you have any more questions!
