Cannot connect to Plaid for Third Party App Connections

Main Problem:

  • POSEIDON is experiencing difficulties connecting Fidelity accounts to investment tracking applications via Plaid, receiving a “Something is wrong. Try again” message for months.

Solutions Discussed:

  • Fidelity suggests linking the Fidelity account directly by entering routing and account numbers instead of using Plaid.
  • Users may need to reestablish the connection between Fidelity and third-party tools due to enhanced security protocols implemented by Fidelity.
  • Fidelity encourages users to stay informed about updates through their social media channels while they work on resolving the issue with Plaid.

I have been having trouble connecting my Fidelity accounts to multiple investment tracking applications utilizing the Plaid authorization connection. I am met with “Something is wrong. Try again” for months. Any ideas?

Hi @POSEIDON , thanks for posting. Plaid is currently available as a method for linking participating banks to your eligible Fidelity accounts, however, due to recent updates to our security protocols you may run into issues with other sites. A potential workaround is to try linking your fidelity account directly using your routing and account numbers. You can find this info on our website by doing the following: 1. Expand the “Accounts & Trade” menu, and select “Account Features” 2. Click on “Payments & Transfers” and choose “Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)” 3. Choose the “Link a New Bank Account” button on the upper right 4. Toggle the button for “Enter my bank information on my own” under the section titled “How do you want to add bank information?” Learn more about how we protect your data with third-party websites and apps here: https://www.fidelity.com/security/third-party-app-protection Thanks again for reaching out, and please let us know if you have any questions or feedback. 🟢

I am directly referencing Copilot and Mint as the third party tools I’m trying to connect with. Please let me know if there is a direct security issue with these two services.

Thanks for following up with us. A few months ago, we made enhancements to how we safeguard your data. Due to these enhanced protocols, you may need to reestablish the linkage between Fidelity and other third party tools, which can be done on their apps.

That’s the issue at hand. I make the connection and it fails to refresh each time. I’ve opened support tickets with both tools, and they mentioned that Plaid is working with Fidelity to enhance the connection. It sounds like the issue is with Fidelity. It doesn’t sound like we have more information available other than, “Fidelity and Plaid are working on it” which is pretty frustrating haha
