Closing Future Roast 401K

Here’s a summary of the main problem and solutions discussed in the conversation:

  • Main Problem: The user, taja rae, wants to close their FR401K account through Starbucks, which is no longer active, and is looking for a way to remove it from their dashboard.
  • Solution: Fidelity representative advised that while workplace accounts like 401(k)s cannot be removed, users can hide them from their dashboard.
  • Steps to Hide Accounts:
    • Log in to Fidelity.com.
    • Click the “Customize” link on the Summary page.
    • Select the “Display Preferences” tab.
    • Uncheck the boxes for “Show workplace accounts” and “Show zero balance Fidelity accounts.”

This allows the user to manage what they see on their dashboard without removing the account entirely.

Good morning! I have a FR401K through Starbucks at $0 but haven’t been employed there for a couple of years now? Is it possible to close this account so I can just no longer see it on my dashboard? I did see a previous post about closing out accounts but it’s abour a year old so I was hoping things have changed.

Hi, @taja rae. Workplace accounts, like 401(k)s, cannot be removed as they are a part of our record keeping. That said, you can hide workplace retirement accounts such as 401(k)s. You also have the choice to hide your Fidelity accounts that have a $0.00 balance. To do so, you can follow these steps once you’re logged in at http://Fidelity.com: 1. Click the “Customize” link from the top left of your Summary page 2. Select the “Display Preferences” tab 3. From here, you can uncheck the boxes for “Show workplace accounts” and “Show zero balance Fidelity accounts” If there is anything we can clarify or if additional questions pop up, please don’t hesitate to ask! We’re always happy to help. 🟢

Can we completely hide them semi-permanently? They still show up in annoying places like retirement planner.
