Combining two users under one profile

Here’s a summary of the main problem and solutions discussed in the post:

  • Main Problem: The user wants to manage both their and their wife’s Fidelity 401k accounts under one login to avoid logging into separate accounts daily.
  • Solution: Fidelity does not allow sharing login credentials, as it voids their Customer Protection Guarantee.
  • Solution: The wife can designate the user as an authorized user on her account, allowing them to view account information and transact on her behalf by following specific steps provided by Fidelity.
  • Solution: To access a spouse’s workplace account (like a 401k) on a shared dashboard, the user must be listed as Power of Attorney (POA) on the plan.

These steps would enable the user to manage the accounts more conveniently while adhering to Fidelity’s security policies.

Hi, I’d like to manage my wife and my fidelity 401k accounts under one login, so as to not have to log into each different account on a daily basis. Is it possible to do this and be able to trade under both accounts but use one login? Thanks

Thanks for reaching out with your question, @kit. I’m happy to discuss the choices you may have for accessing your wife’s accounts. First, it’s important to mention that Fidelity’s security policy and expectation is that login credentials should not be shared with anyone else – including spouses, family members, friends, or other trusted individuals. Sharing login credentials voids the terms of our Customer Protection Guarantee, which you can read more about below. Fidelity Customer Protection Guarantee: https://www.fidelity.com/security/customer-protection-guarantee Now, let’s get into access choices. Fidelity clients can designate various levels of account authority to allow others to view their account information and details or transact on their behalf. You can learn more about each level and grant authorized access through the following link. Authorize Others to Access Your Accounts: https://www.fidelity.com/customer-service/account-access-rights-overview Your wife can make you an authorized user on her account(s) by following the steps below once logged in: 1. Click “Accounts & Trade” in the top left corner and select “Account Features” from the dropdown 2. Under the “Manage account” heading, click “Manage” next to “Authorized users” 3. Locate the desired account(s) and click “Add Access” Lastly, to view a spouse’s workplace account, like a 401(k), on your dashboard using your login credentials, you would need to be listed as Power of Attorney (POA) on the plan. Please let us know if more questions come up. We’re happy to expand where we can! 🟢
