Core positions in solo fidfolio

Here’s a summary of the main problem and solutions discussed in the conversation:

  • Main Problem: Nathanael was unsure when the funds in his core position would be used to buy stocks in his Fidfolio and why his available cash was still shown as uninvested.
  • Solution: FidelityMarian explained that the cash available to trade is used for purchasing securities and that the core position holds uninvested funds until Nathanael decides to invest them.
  • Additional Insight: Nathanael realized he was waiting for an EFT to finish processing before he could use the funds in his core position.
  • Further Clarification: FidelityMarian confirmed that uninvested cash in the core position does earn interest, which is calculated daily and paid out monthly.

I was just wondering when the funds in my core position will be used to buy stocks in the fidfolio. Is it just until the transfer clears?

Thanks for reaching out! When creating a Fidfolio basket, you’re purchasing individual securities using your “cash available to trade” balance. You can monitor this on your “Balances” tab.

So in my current balances it shows a majority of my holdings in SPAXX. Why is it not invested in the securities I have in my basket?

It sounds like your available cash is still in your core position. Your core position is what holds your uninvested funds until you decide to invest. I got it figured out. I’m just waiting for the EFT to finish processing. I spoke with an agent In app
It’s just gonna take a few days before I can spend the cash in the core position.
Thanks for the assistance
Sorry for not explaining my situation well

Thanks for reaching out! It sounds like there was activity from your account that affected your core position. To verify that this is the case, please visit your account activity page by logging in and following the steps below: 1. Select “Accounts & Trade” 2. Click “Portfolio” 3. Click on the “Activity & Orders” tab 4. Select the “History” tab to view your most recent account history

I gotcha. Yes, your uninvested cash in your core position gains interest. Money market interest is calculated daily, paid out monthly, and compounded monthly as well. The monthly interest pay-date is the first business day of each month. 🟢
