Debit cards with multiple account

Main Problem:

  • Rasmit is unsure if their CMA debit card can access funds from their Brokerage account or if they need a separate debit card for that account.

Solutions Discussed:

  • The debit card is only linked to the CMA account and cannot pull funds from the Brokerage account.
  • To access funds from the Brokerage account using the CMA debit card, Rasmit can initiate a transfer between the two accounts online.
  • Rasmit can order a new debit card for the Brokerage account by visiting www.Fidelitydebitcard.com.
  • Setting up automatic transfers from the Brokerage account to the CMA is also an option, which can be done under the “Account Features” tab on their Portfolio.

I have a debit card for my CMA account but I also have a Brokerage account under the same general account, can that debit card pull from my Brokerage account funds or would I have to get a new debit card for my Brokerage account?

Thanks for the question @Rasmit. Apologies for the delay in getting you a response over the holiday weekend. To answer your question, your debit card will only pull funds from the account it’s tied to. You won’t be able to use your CMA debit card to pull funds from your other brokerage account. You can order a debit card for your accounts by going to www.Fidelitydebitcard.com (login required). If you have settled funds in your brokerage account that you want to access using your CMAs debit card, you can initiate a transfer between these two accounts online. Simply click the “Transfer” button, located in the black bar above your account list on your Portfolio. Simply select the funding account from the “From” dropdown, and your CMA from the “To” dropdown. Finally, you may also consider setting up automatic transfers from your brokerage to your CMA, which can be done by clicking the “Account Features” tab on your Portfolio. You’ll see a “Recurring Transfers” option on that page. Please let us know if you have any other questions, and thanks again for dropping by!🟢
