Fidelity Always asks for two factor authentication/text

Here’s a summary of the main problem reported and the solutions discussed:

  • Main Problem: The user is frustrated because Fidelity requires a text code for login every time, despite clearing cookies and trying different browsers.
  • Solution: Fidelity explained that the requirement for a 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) code at every login is a security measure that can be disabled.
  • How to Adjust Settings: Users can manage their 2FA settings by visiting the Security Center on Fidelity’s website, under “Accounts & Trade” and then “Security Settings.”

By adjusting the 2FA settings, users can potentially reduce the frequency of code requests during login.

Thanks for reaching out to us! Having 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) on your account is an additional security step, and a way to keep your account(s) secure. Previously, 2FA codes were sent periodically, and for certain transactions or activity types. Recently, this feature was enhanced and the 6-digit code is now requested at every login, regardless of the device used, if you have 2FA enabled. If 2FA is disabled, it will not prompt you for a code at log in on any device. Please note that certain transactions after logging in may prompt further verification regardless of your 2FA selection. You can view and toggle 2FA by navigating to the Security Center on Fidelity.com. Simply click “Accounts & Trade” then “Security Settings” to navigate to the Security Center. Let us know if you have any additional questions!
