Thank you for reaching out. I’ll be happy to share information.
There are a few methods that a parent may utilize to fund a Youth Account, including
check deposit, fund transfers using eligible payment apps, and transfers from eligible Fidelity accounts they own. Specifically for transfers from other Fidelity accounts, they can transfer funds from a Fidelity Brokerage or
Cash Management Account (CMA) once the account(s) have been linked to the Youth Account.
If a parent is not showing the Youth Account as an available transfer selection from their Fidelity Brokerage or CMA, they may not have the accounts linked or the Youth Account setup may not be complete. As a bit of background, once the Youth Account is opened, a text message is sent to the teen requesting their agreement to the terms of the Youth Account on the
Fidelity mobile app. Fidelity sends an email with steps to register the account and download the mobile app within one to three business days after the teen agrees to the terms. The parent/guardian funding link to the Youth Account from their Fidelity Account is not live until this step is done.
A link to initiate a connection between the two accounts becomes active 24 to 48 hours after agreeing to the terms. Once the link is active, the parent/guardian will see the Youth Account as a destination in their “Transfer to” choices on Fidelity.com and in the mobile app.
