I need help opening an account

Summary of User’s Issue and Solutions:

  • The user is unable to open a Roth IRA due to verification issues with their information after recently turning 18.
  • One suggestion is to wait a few weeks for credit and identity reports to update, as this may resolve the verification problem.
  • Another solution is to contact Fidelity directly, as they may offer alternative methods for verification, such as a paper application.
  • Fidelity also recommends downloading a paper application from their website or visiting a local Investor Center for assistance with opening the account.

@User#0541 if you just turned 18, your reports at the credit and identity agencies are just now starting to get updated. i would wait about three weeks or so after your bday, that’s how long everything takes to update (that’s how long it took for me). that might be why fidelity says it can’t verify your info
try giving fidelity a call and see what their reps on the phone tell you, they might be able to get you verified through some other means like the paper application they make people mail in

I appreciate your interest in Fidelity for your investing needs, and Happy belated Birthday! We’re sorry to hear you’re having difficulty opening an account with us. There are occasionally circumstances in which accounts cannot be opened online. Typically, if you are receiving an error message when attempting to register online, the best solution is to send us a paper application. You can download the appropriate application from our “All Forms” page. Make sure to check the box next to “Open an Account” in the left menu to narrow your search. Mailing instructions are included at the bottom of each form. Fidelity All Forms: https://www.fidelity.com/customer-service/forms-applications/all-forms As an alternative, you may also visit an Investor Center to open an account.
