Need a snapshot of account as of a specific day

Summary of User’s Problem and Solutions Discussed:

  • The user needs the portfolio values of a trust account as of a specific date for accounting purposes, specifically the date of the grantor’s death, to provide to the beneficiaries.
  • Fidelity suggested generating a balance letter by logging into Fidelity.com and selecting “Create Balance Letter” after navigating to the “Documents” section.
  • Fidelity clarified that the balance letter would reflect the most recent market close, not a specific past date.
  • To obtain the required documentation for the specific date, Fidelity advised contacting their representatives through social media or by calling their service team.

Hello, my accountant is asking for the values of all positions in the portfolio, including cash of a specific day. It is a trust account that I am the trustee for and the info is needed as of the date of the grantor. Is there a way to get this?

Fidelity makes it easy to provide your lender with a balance letter. Follow the steps below to generate the document from Fidelity.com after logging into your account. 1. On the “All account” page, select “Documents” and then the three dots on the right side of the page. 2. From the drop-down, choose “Create Balance Letter” 3. You can select to include the total account or create a custom amount After generating the letter, you can download the document and send it to your lender.

I actually need to this to be as of a specific date in January. It is for an accounting of the trust to be sent to all of the beneficiaries.

Just to clarify, are you looking for A Date of Death (DOD) valuation for the Trust?

I believe so. It is an irrevocable trust that does not qualify for a step-up in basis. We just need to let the beneficiaries the values of everything as of the date of death.
