Here’s a summary of the main problem and solutions discussed in the conversation:
- Main Problem: The user, Storm, is unsure if the requirement from Fidelity to complete an online consent agreement for sharing account information is legitimate, given their work at Jackson National Life Insurance.
- Solution Provided: Fidelity explained that financial institutions have regulations necessitating communication between the brokerage firm and the employer of the associated employee, which is a standard procedure.
- Additional Suggestion: Storm was advised to contact their employer’s compliance department to verify any additional requirements regarding the consent agreement.
- Clarification on Process: Fidelity confirmed that Storm should select the accounts listed that need to be shared, which aligns with the requirements they mentioned earlier.

I work for an insurance company and I sent up a fidelity brokerage account separate and got the fidelity message that my company is requiring me to complete an online consent agreement providing account information and transactions to adhere to ethic policies. Is this a legit thing? Sorry I am new. Specifically I work for Jackson National Life Insurance

We appreciate you opening a new account with us, @Storm. Happy to provide some insight.
Financial institutions have rules and regulations that require communication between the outside brokerage firm, in this case, Fidelity, and the employer of the “associated” person. When you indicate that you work in the financial industry, our processing team will make contact with your employer to retrieve, in writing, permission to open/maintain the account. The employer informs Fidelity of the documentation they require us to provide to allow their employee to open and maintain a Fidelity account. This may include statements, trade confirmations, and more.
Additionally, you may want to contact your employer’s compliance department to ensure that there are no additional requirements.
Feel free to let us know if you have any other questions. We’re happy to help. 🟢
