Plot Total performance as against Price performance

Main Problem:

  • The user wants to plot the total performance of funds, including dividends and gains reinvested, to compare with SPY over various time periods, but is unsure how to do this using Fidelity’s Chart+ or ATP charts.

Solutions Discussed:

  • Fidelity Chart+ and Active Trader Pro (ATP) can compare securities to indexes and other funds, allowing users to select “Max” for the timeframe to see total performance.
  • In ATP, by selecting a frequency of “quarterly” or greater, users can go back over 30 years and overlay dividends and earnings on their charts.
  • The Fidelity team will share the user’s feedback regarding the ease of plotting total returns similar to the functionality available in Seeking Alpha with their development team for future consideration.

Thanks for reaching out to us, @Options-20-08. I’m happy to provide some information on our charting features. Fidelity Chart+ and Active Trader Pro (APT) allow you to compare securities to indexes and other funds up to the life of each fund or investment. You can access the “Chart+” feature on Fidelity.com by following these steps once logged in: 1. In the “Search or Get a Quote” tool, enter the symbol 2. Click on the “Chart+” tab Add indexes or other tickers by clicking the “Compare” link on the Chart+ tool. You can compare the total performance of each ticker by selecting “Max” for the chart timeframe. Alternatively, you may use the charting on Active Trade Pro (ATP) to compare the performance of different securities using the same timeframe designation. Once logged in, choose “Charts” followed by “New Chart.” Input your starting symbol and click “Compare” to add up to 25 other symbols to compare and select the “Max” timeframe. You can learn more about the ATP software through the link below. Active Trader Pro (ATP): https://www.fidelity.com/trading/advanced-trading-tools/active-trader-pro/overview If you have more questions, let us know! That said, if this doesn’t sound like what you are referencing, feel free to share more information regarding the tool you are searching for, and we can investigate further. 🟢

In ATP, if you elect the frequency “quarterly” or greater, you can go back more than 30 years. After that is set, you can overlay the dividends and earnings. Please let us know if this is what you are referring to or if not I can pass along your inquiry as feedback to our ATP development team. 🟢

Thanks. In SeekingAlpha I can just pick total return and it will plot a graph for the time period I select. I want to compare SPY total return to Fidelity Magellen and Contra total returns for various time periods.
