Struggling to Set Time In Force for My Limit Order

Here’s a summary of the main problem and solutions discussed in the post:

  • Main Problem: The user, Cheez, is unable to set a Time In Force for a limit order on the mobile trading app, as it only allows “Day” with no option to change it.
  • Initial Suggestions: FidelityMarian suggested checking if the user is using the directed trade ticket and to look for a “More Trade Selections” option.
  • App Troubleshooting: FidelityMarian recommended uninstalling and reinstalling the app to ensure it’s the latest version.
  • Further Assistance: If the issue persists, FidelityMarian advised contacting the Electronic Channel Support team for more detailed troubleshooting.

These steps aim to help Cheez resolve the issue with setting the Time In Force for their trade order.

Great to see you back on Discord, @Cheez! We certainly would like to assist and get you back to trading. Tell us more about the trade you would like to place. Are you using the directed trade ticket? If you see the option “more trade selections”, you can try clicking that option.

GEHC
I’ll go over my full workflow
I’m on Home > I click on Invest at the bottom > I press positions (see details) > I click on the Stock from the list of my holdings > I press sell next to tax lots > I’m taken to the trading interface with no option to select Time In Force
I have Sell Shares selected

On the the top right of your trade ticket, do you see it as a market or limit order?

Do you see a “More Trade Selections” link? It should be at the bottom of the ticket.

To troubleshoot this, please try uninstalling the app on your device and reinstalling it to ensure you are using the current version of the app. Let me know if you are still not able to change the Time-In-Force on your trade ticket after following the steps above.

I am. I appreciate all the information you shared with us- it was very helpful. It sounds like you’re using the single-screen experience for an apple device. I haven’t been able to replicate what you’re running into with my personal device. At this point, go ahead and give our Electronic Channel Support team a call to take a closer look and further troubleshoot this issue.
